One of my favorite activities at a Maker Faire is the community build. More than 500 balloons were a part of this Maker Faire Lake County mural.

Just one of the latest projects our engineering interns are working on. I’m also excited to see several CLC alumni have submitted Maker applications or willing be joining us as volunteers.

Jake’s Robotics will showcase what is possible with a 3d printer and some Arduinos. Everything from life-size robots to handheld props will be on display at Maker Faire Lake County on April 15th. Here’s your chance to communicate with R2D2.

The 3rd annual Make a Thon was held on March 11th at the ATC. Community members of all ages (middle school thru early retirement) had the opportunity to combine their prototyping and programming skills. They were tasked with creating scenes or props based on their favorite movies. The results were incredible. Attend Maker Faire Lake County on April 15th to see all of the creations and vote for your favorites!

As Maker Faire Lake County approaches, it’s time to start making! Join us for a free afternoon of coding, prototyping and creativity on March 11th. https://lakecounty.makerfaire.com/make-a-thon/

Join us to celebrate the grand opening of the sleek new CLC Student Center on Waukegan’s lakefront! Drop by anytime on Jan. 28th between 11 a.m.-3 p.m. to enjoy special activities, performances and treats on each floor including a Maker Faire pop-up table. Learn more about paper circuits and pick up a Maker Faire bookmark to remind you to answer our Call for Makers opening Feb 1st.

Any day is a good day to MAKE something. Keep an eye out for pop up events over the next few months as we get ready for the main event on April 15, 2023. We will be hosting a table at the Advanced Technology Center grand opening this Saturday from 11 to 2 pm in Gurnee.

2 Makeys are better than 1. Join us on April 9th to add even more to the collection by inking up the milled block print. There will be other designs to print as well.

Engineering Club is getting ready for the spring soccer season. They have swapped out the pumpkins for soccer balls. Come see just how far the trebuchet can launch the ball on April 9th at Maker Faire. Engineering club will be out on the front lawn of the technology building. Do you think you can kick further?

As the local teams continue building their robots for the Lake County Robotics Competition (LCRC) at the Maker Faire, Makey is out for a joy ride. Area high school students have been hard at work learning some new coding tricks, optimizing gear ratios as well as testing and retesting their prototypes.
