Cook Memorial Public Library Workshop: Sewing machines, 3D printing, and virtual programming in a time of COVID

Art & Sculpture
I'll be showing off our makerspace, The Workshop, detailing the various pieces of equipment we have (i.e. 3D printer, VR headsets, sewing machines, etc.), as well as some projects we've done in the past year. I'll also be discussing how going virtual this past year has impacted how I plan my programs.

I am a reference librarian who happens to moonlight as the person in charge of the Cook Memorial Public Library's makerspace, the Workshop. I've run a number of in-person and virtual programs for teens and adults, covering a variety of projects and technologies ranging from introductory programs on using RPG Maker to more hands-on type programs like pour-a-painting and sew-it-yourself throw pillows. I'm currently learning the finer points of Simplify3D and looking forward to the library's purchase of a laser cutter.
