Reach for the Stars: Amateur Radio Satellites, Meshtastic Networks, and Your DIY Adventure

Ralph Iden
Ralph has been a licensed amateur radio operator since he was a teenager and still has his original call sign, WB9ICF. Amateur radio provides an endless amount of fuel to feed his curiosity and love of lifelong learning. Some of his many interests include contacting other amateurs around the world with home built equipment, building useful (and some not so useful) things with Raspberry Pis and Arduinos, designing electronic projects, 3D printing, and generally living the Maker dream

Dave Holmgren
Dave is another long-time amateur radio operator with call sign K9AT. Dave is an excellent communicator and mentor (an "Elmer" in amateur radio lingo). He is eager to share his knowledge and experience in order to educate and assist other amateur operators and prospective ones. When he is not evaluating the latest Apple technology, handheld radios, chatting with his ham buddies, or admiring color touchscreens, Dave enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family, pets, and the family's pet robotic lawnmower, Mo.

Andy Barkley
Andy became interested in amateur (ham) radio while in high school in Saginaw, Michigan. He is an Amateur Extra class licensee with the call sign WB7DKZ. He has owned a number of different radios including equipment from Heathkit (which were sold in kit form). In addition to his station at home, he can operate from his car, making contacts around the world. While you may find Andy making voice contacts on the amateur radio frequencies, his passion is contacting other hams using Morse Code. He is a CWops Morse Code instructor where he shares his love of Morse Code with others.
